This Advanced training is for those wishing to pass the IRS Advanced certification exam. Recommended for new volunteers who have already completed their Basic certification and/or returning/experienced volunteers.
This training will enhance your tax law skills and allow you to prepare advanced returns, as well as serve as a designated Quality Reviewer at a tax site. The training will cover advanced tax return scenarios and conclude with completion of the certification exam.
Prerequisites:
New Volunteers: You must already be certified at the Basic level to attend this training.
This training requires completion of the following tasks PRIOR TO attendance:
- Becoming A Volunteer with CWF - 2025 (15 minutes)
- The Standards of Volunteer Conduct - 2025 (15 minutes)
- Pass the 2 introductory exams on Link&Learn (IRS Certification site) (20 minutes)
- Volunteer Standards of Conduct (10 questions)
- Intake/Interview & Quality Review (10 questions)
- Intro to TaxSlayer Practice Lab - 2025 (15 mins)
- Completing a Return in TaxSlayer - 2025 (5 minutes)

Parking: There is both street and metered parking, as well as a paid parking lot (costs around $20)
SEPTA: Ritter Hall is located about 1 block from the Cecil B. Moore Broad Street Line station. It is also accessible by bus routes 4, 16, 3 and 23.
What to Bring:
- Photo ID to present to the security person when you enter Ritter Hall Annex
- Computers will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own to use
- Lunch will be provided for all Saturday trainings, and snacks/refreshments for all evening trainings
